Irish driver caught having not paid tax for 10 YEARS after Garda traffic stop

A MOTORIST stopped by Gardaí in Co. Wexford yesterday was found to have not paid motor tax for an entire decade.

An Garda Síochána tweeted an image of the offending driver's yellow Toyota Supra after seizing the vehicle in New Ross on Monday.

An additional photo of the car's tax disc appears to show it has been unpaid since 2009.

The image further shows the vehicle hasn't had an NCT check since 2012, while part of an insurance plate that has been unpaid since 2013 is also visible.

Legal proceedings against the motorist are to follow, according to the Twitter post.

Members of the public were quick to poke fun at the car owner in a series of replies to the original tweet.

One user wrote: "In fairness it was only 10 years out. Give the people a bit of a grace period for god sake".

Another said: "3.0 yellow Supra - probably not the best car to avoid drawing attention, still, how has the driver got away this long?"

A third added: "Driving a yellow sh*tbox should be an arrest-able offence anyway!"
