Important works by famed Irish painters from Jack B. Yeats and Sir William Orpen to Gerard Dillon and William Crozier go on display at the Mall Galleries in central London in May this year.
Entitled The Art of a Nation, the exhibition is heralded as a major Irish art retrospective, marking the first time in 25 years that such prized Irish art dating from 1900 to the present day has been seen anywhere in Britain.
The paintings are taken from collections belonging to Allied Irish Banks and Crawford Art Gallery in Cork, and will include 70 works by the who’s who of the Irish art world.
Works by Aloysius O’Kelly, Sir John Lavery, Roderic O’Conor, Sean Keating, Paul and Grace Henry, Harry Kernoff, Mary Swanzy, Mainie Jellett and Norah McGuinness will be on display, alongside big-draw names like Louis le Brocquy, and two-time Turner Prize nominee Sean Scully.
