A UNIQUE showcase of the best of Irish architecture in Britain will take place at the Vision London exhibition at the Olympia next week.
This year the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) provide a “major new feature” for the annual two-day exhibition – which highlights organisations and exhibitors from across the architectural sector in Britain.
“Visitors to this year’s Vision London exhibition will get the chance to see the very best of Irish design in architecture, construction and craft at the RIAI’s London Forum exhibition,” a Vision London spokesperson confirmed this week.
“Part of the London Festival of Architecture, the RIAI London Forum exhibition will be officially launched at the RIAI stand on Tuesday, June 2 at 5pm and will showcase what the London Forum believes to the best examples of built and unbuilt projects that RIAI members are working on throughout the UK,” they added.
The Irish showcase at the Olympia exhibition centre in west Kensington will also feature a 7Hands crafts section - where the RIAI will display etchings, plates and 14 separate pieces of artwork, including glass bowls, a metal chess set and two six-metre high metal statues, by designers and makers based in west Cork.
RIAI events on June 2 will also include a panel discussion session, including Irish industry experts Angela Brady, Niall McLaughlin, Pol Gallagher and Sandra O’Connell, tackling the topic Future Materials in Irish Design.
Later that day the RIAI will host a drinks reception celebrating the Irish impact on Britain’s built environment.
Entry to Vision London, the RIAI events and drinks reception is free – but you must register to attend.
