IT’S official: people from the Republic of Ireland have the most attractive accent in the British Isles.
The Southern Irish topped a YouGov poll which looked at accents all around Britain and Ireland.
Those from the North of Ireland also appeared on the list at number seven.
The Southern Irish accent was the runaway winner though – bringing in 42 points, 11 ahead of the second placed Received Pronunciation, or ‘BBC English’, a common accent in Southern England.
But it was bad news for Brummies, who were voted the least attractive accent in either country.
Liverpool and Glaswegian accents also proved unpopular with the 2,000 voters in the poll.
