TV PRESENTER Robert Preston is the subject of a lot of online backlash following his comments about Ireland on his ITV programme.
During an interview with Tory politician, Jacob Rees-Mogg, Mr Preston claimed that Ireland had undermined British governments for at least the last century.
He said: “Ireland has undermined, the issue of Ireland in so many different ways has undermined, British governments, you know, going back well over 100 years now.”
Mr Rees-Mogg responded by reinforcing the claim, saying that the issue of Ireland had undermined British politics for “much more than 100 years. It’s a very long and complex history.”
Mr Rees-Mogg added that it was “deeply disgraceful that people who wish to keep us in the European Union are threatening the spectre of a return to terror to try and make people accept their views”.
The comments sparked a debate on Twitter.
Good spot. Please repost with a much bigger headline. Peston and Rees-Mogg are unbelievable

No, it’s not a “good spot”? The historical facts are that the Irish question has indeed undermined Brit governments because they’ve not been able to resolve it. Governments have fallen because of it. Making political capital out of this FACT is juvenile.

The question wouldn't have arisen if Ireland hadn't been colonised.

If a government fails to solve a problem, then it is that government which has displayed utter incompetence... Ireland played no part in UK incompetence unless you want to suggest that by standing under a street light, I contribute to global warming !
