Ireland set for hottest day of the year this week as warm weather continues

IRELAND is set to bask in glorious sunshine over the coming days with Met Éireann forecasting a record high for the year.

Today saw the highest temperature for Ireland this year recorded at Oak Park in Carlow, where the temperature hit 26.5° Celsius.

However Met Éireann forecasts temperatures of 27° Celsius tomorrow, with high pressure and settled conditions persisting throughout the week, resulting in warm, dry and sunny conditions countrywide.

Met Éireann forecaster Siobhan Ryan reckons it could get even hotter, with temperatures rising throughout the week.

She told RTÉ: “Wednesday through to Friday we’re going to see the hottest spell so far this year, with temperatures readily in the mid to high 20s.

“We’re probably going to see temperatures of 30-31° Celsius reached.”

Met Éireann adds that the warm weather will continue until the weekend.

The meteorological service says the country can expect dry and mostly sunny conditions by day from Tuesday to Friday, while the night will remain warm with minimum temperatures in the low to mid-teens.

Coastal areas will be cooler due to sea breezes.

The influence of high pressure will weaken from around Saturday onwards with thundery outbreaks a possibility.
