IRELAND has risen in the ranks to be named the tenth most prosperous country in the world, ahead of Britain and the US.
Climbing two spots since last year, Ireland ranked highly among the 142 countries in the 2015 Legatum Prosperity Index.
Countries were placed according to their economy, enterprise and opportunity, governance, education, health, safety and security, personal freedom and social capital.
Norway claimed the top spot for the seventh consecutive year, with Switzerland coming in second and Denmark third.
Ireland beat the US, which ranked 11th, Germany 14th and Britain 15th and gained its best scores on safety and security and personal freedom.
The Index also named Ireland as one of the top five most tolerant countries towards immigrants, alongside Canada, Norway, New Zealand and Iceland.
