IRELAND will be hotter than Malibu, California today as temperatures start to rise and it begins to finally feel like summer.
Met Eireann has forecast the hottest day of the year in Ireland today with temperatures set to hit 18C with bright and sunny spells.
Cloud will gradually break and some sunshine will develop this afternoon. Most places will be dry but there will be a few scattered showers and in the west there will be spells of heavy rain. Furthermore, the warm weather looks as though it will stay throughout the weekend and could last until next Monday.
According to Met Eireann, the temperatures could go above 20C over the weekend.
They said: "Early fog clearing on Friday, then dry for the day with good sunshine.
Highs of 14 to 17 degrees in light variable breezes.
Cloud increasing at times over West Connacht and Western parts of Ulster.
"Mostly dry with sunny spells on Saturday but a few showers may break out near the West and Southwest coast.
Light to moderate East to Southeast breezes.
Max 16 to 18 degrees generally but possibly up to 20 degrees in parts of the West.
"Current indications suggest staying very mild or warm for Sunday and Monday with sunny spells and some showers or rain developing in parts."
Parts of the UK will also enjoy a mini-heatwave over the coming days, as a 2,414km ‘African air plume’ will reach Southern Europe.
Temperatures could reach as high as 27C tomorrow in London, with slightly cooler temperatures expected for the weekend.
