CUIMHNE, cricket and counselling were the three C’s to benefit from the Ireland Fund of Great Britain’s latest round of grants.
Over £13,000 was given out to three worthy causes over the summer, with Co. Tyrone’s Strabane Cricket Club receiving £2,450, counselling service icap accepting a cheque for £6,000 and Irish in Britain’s Cuimhne memory loss volunteer project getting £5,000.
“We are proud supporters of Strabane Cricket Club’s 10 week cross-community summer activity programme aimed at 10 to 15-year-old boys and girls of all denominations and abilities,” said IFGB spokesperson Sean Henderson.
“The grant is an example of our commitment to support programmes of peace and reconciliation, arts and culture, education and community development throughout the island of Ireland.”
The money received by icap will now go towards providing quality counseling and psychotherapy services to people dealing with emotional trauma, depression and risk of suicide, while Irish in Britain will use their funds to provide training for volunteers to increase their awareness and confidence to engage with older Irish people who suffer from memory loss.
