Irish design to be promoted at London Festival of Architecture

IRELAND has been selected as the very first ‘focus country’ for the London Festival of Architecture 2015.

The honour will see Irish design being promoted at the festival, giving up-and-coming designers the chance to have their work viewed internationally.

The London Festival of Architecture will be a month-long celebration of design, kicking off in June. Emmett Scanlon, Clancy Moore, TAKA, Steve Larkin and Hall McKnight will present the five emerging practices in London this summer.

The announcement was made by Irish Design 2015 (ID2015) at a special reception hosted by Ambassador Daniel Mulhall at the Irish Embassy in London, where renowned Irish architects Sheila O’Donnell and John Tuomey were honoured with a presentation.

The festival will see ID2015 debut its ‘New Horizons’ project – a year-long initiative to promote and celebrate Irish design all over the world. The project will visit three cities globally - London’s King’s Cross and the Design Museum are the chosen venues for the British celebrations.
