GARDAÍ are investigating after a gang of four armed men carried out a bank robbery in rural Ireland today.
The robbery happened at around 3pm at the Bank of Ireland on Main Street in Strokestown, Co. Roscommon.
The gang, who were armed with a shotgun and metal bars, made off with a sum of cash.
They escaped in a black Audi car, which was driven away in the direction of Elphin.
Gardái are carrying out searches in the area.
Nobody was injured in the incident, however staff are being treated for shock after the gun was reportedly aimed at employees during the ordeal.
