International Dublin Writers' Festival to be held online this September

CALLING ALL budding writers from across Ireland and beyond.

The International Dublin Writers' Festival is nearly upon us, with this year’s event heading online this September.

Now in its sixth year, the former Writers' Conference will go live next month with an impressive array of online speakers booked for this year.

There will also be a special live pitch session for anyone hoping to get their work published.

While the Covid-19 pandemic may have put paid to some of the usual festivities, the new digital-only festival promises to be quite the occasion before the festival returns for a full event in September 2021.

This year’s edition will be focused on writers, helping writers with an emphasis on building a supportive community for writers, and sharing industry expertise on craft, publishing, and marketing.

For everyone who has faced extended lockdown, the joy of writing and the pleasure of seeing a book created provide real solace in challenging times.

It's hoped this event can help us not only keep the writers' community alive but foster an exciting new online forum for discussion, debate and advice.

This year Kate Nash, one of the UK's leading literary agents, will be listening to live novel pitches and providing live feedback, with attendees invited to watch along at home.

Now is the time to pitch that novel you’ve been dreaming up for so long with Kate eager to explore “writing that transports us out of our isolation. Writing that gives us access to experiences and to places currently beyond our reach.”

“We want to meet your irresistible characters and to walk in your worlds...And we want to be left yearning for more.”

Kate won’t be the only expert hand making an appearance during the festival.

There will also be talks from speakers like Niamh Campbell (Winner Sunday Times Short Story Award), US Industry experts Peter Miller (Global Lion Intellectual Property Management), Ivan O’Brien, publisher at O’Brien Press, Ireland’s largest independent publisher and Alexandra Sokoloff the Thriller Award-winning author/screenwriter of thirteen novels and the Screenwriting Tricks for Authors workbooks.

Allied to all of that, attendees will get access to a unique online community where there will be countless opportunities to connections with all who attend.

All that, and there will be one-to-one mentoring options.
