GARDAÍ IN County Cork have made a massive seizure of drugs, fireworks and offensive weapons from a number of properties in Mallow.
Officers from the north County Cork town executed two search warrants on Friday evening last, uncovering a huge haul of dangerous weapons.
According to a statement from Gardaí, 490 illegal fireworks were recovered from the property, as well as a number of airsoft guns believed to be more powerful than is allowed under current legislation.
Pepper spray, a tazer disguised as a mobile phone and a machete were among the offensive weapons seized.
Gardaí also seized a rifle and ammunition from one of the properties, although it is understood to be legally held.
A quantity of drugs and cash were also seized from both properties.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána confirmed that all of the seized firearms will be sent for ballistic examination as part of the investigation, and the suspected drugs have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
The spokesperson went on to say that while no arrests have been made as of yet, Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry.
