OVER 25,000 homes and businesses were left without electricity in Dublin last night following a major power outage.
ESB customers in the north Dublin area of Clonshaugh and parts of West Dublin were without power when a fault developed in a substation at Finglas at around 7.40 am this morning.
ESB Networks has apologised for the loss of supply and have said its working to repair the fault and restore supply as quickly as possible.
Customers in Castleknock, Coolmine, Palmerston and Ballycoolin are affected and crews are on site trying to repair the fault.
AA Roadwatch says traffic lights are out of action at a number of junctions throughout the city centre.

There are also reports of lights out in the Palmerstown, Liffey Valley and Chapelizod areas, as well as around Blanchardstown and Clontarf. Motorists have been urged to take extreme care on approach to all junctions.
Meanwhile, Irish Rail has said there are “significant delays” to northbound Dart and northern commuter services.
