Two people have been arrested following the discovery by Gardaí.
A device described as suspicious was found as part of a Garda search in Drogheda, Co. Louth.
The house, in the Marley Court area of the town, was searched by Gardaí as part of a crackdown on organised crime.
According to RTE, the scene was preserved for the army EOD to examine the device.
A number of houses were evacuated in the search.
Two people in their 50s were arrested and are currently being detained at Drogheda Garda Station.
