MATTHEW McConaughey has said he wants his three children to go to the Irish-speaking areas of Ireland, known as the Gaeltacht when they're older.
The Hollywood actor made the comments in an interview with The Irish Sun.
McConaughey's mother's family hails from Cavan and Monaghan, and the actor wants his children to embrace their Celtic heritage.
"I gotta keep up the Gaelic," he said, "I want them reading the literature, I want Riverdancing, I want them saying 'grand' and 'lunatic to the marvellous."
Mr McConaughey has three children, Levi, eight, Vida, six, and Livingston, four, with Brazilian wife Camilla Alves.
"My kids are really privileged to call themselves Brazilian Irish," he said, "Connected to two of the most vibrant, colourful, exciting cultures on the planet."
McConaughey also lamented how his wife has taught their children about Brazilian culture and food, and they're speaking Portuguese.
"They're talking about me," he joked, "plotting against me."
"When they’re older," he said, "I want to send them to that Irish language summer camp you guys do, it’s like a rite of passage for you guys, isn’t it?"
"I want them fluent," he told The Sun, "which means I gotta do a crash course too."
The actor also recalled his summer living in Dublin, while filming Reign of Fire.
"I walked those streets, walked into tiny pubs with giant welcomes and warm hearts. That ‘f*** it, pull up a stool, tell me your story, I’ll tell you mine’, attitude, I loved it," he stated.
“I made fast friends, I sang, I danced," he said, "[I] heard stories and tales and jokes and anecdotes I’ll remember for a lifetime."
