The Department of Agriculture has issued an orange fire danger warning for the country.
The alert is in place until Wednesday, July 25 as the ongoing drought conditions in parts of the country are grounds for potential fires.
The warning said: "Arising from preceding drought conditions, a High Fire Risk remains in all areas where hazardous fuels exist.
"Fire Risk condition is likely to be moderated on a localised basis by scattered light rain, cooler temperatures and higher ambient humidity levels in many areas.
"However, an increase in fire risk values is very likely as the weekend progresses. Highest ignition risks are likely to remain in public amenity areas in proximity to urban centres," it added.
Dublin Fire Brigade said the rain of today didn't affect the danger of fires in hills and the countryside.
They also warned that fires spreading could be rapid.
The recent rain has had little effect on the Fire Warning, which remains at Orange: High fire risk. Please take all precautions to prevent fire in the countryside and hills. Grass/gorse & bushes are still dry and fire spread will be rapid. pic.twitter.com/Es6EgbQpNi
