BRACE yourself for Storm Clodagh – who could be coming to Britain and Ireland this winter.
But before Clodagh hits our shores, we will be hit by Abigail and Barney.
The Met Office in Britain and Ireland’s Met Éireann asked for the public’s help in naming storms, mimicking the system used for hurricanes in the US.
People sent in suggestions via email, Facebook and Twitter over the past several weeks.
And now the final list of winning names has been revealed.
Taking alphabetical order, the names of the next 21 storms in Britain and Ireland have been decided.
Like the US system, only lesser used letters like Q, U, X, Y or Z.
And Irish names are well represented on the list – with favourites like Clodagh and Orla ready to go.
