Hapless burglar arrested after spending SEVEN hours stuck in chicken shop extractor fan

A SUSPECTED burglar quite literally stole the show after getting stuck in a takeaway extractor fan hole for SEVEN hours.

The hapless suspect was forced to shout at passers-by for help during the incident in Handsworth, near Birmingham.

The man allegedly tried to gain entry to the DFC Chicken shop via an empty extractor fan hole at 2am on Thursday morning.

A member of the public spotted his legs dangling in the air and called the police.

PC Matthew Willocks arrived on scene and took a photo of the trapped suspect, who was finally freed from the extractor fan by a crew from Handsworth Fire Station at around 9am.

PC Willocks said: “The extractor unit had been removed and the suspect had climbed in to the extractor outlet at around 2am.

“He was completely stuck and couldn’t move at all.

“The fire brigade had to come in and use the jaws of life to pull back all the extractor casing to release him.”

West Midlands Police said the 45-year-old suspect, from Handsworth, was taken to hospital for a check-up before being arrested on suspicion of burglary.

The picture of him stuck in the shop window has prompted a wave of hysterical reactions on social media.
