THE Irish in Britain are being urged, as part of Ireland's global diaspora, to take part in an RTÉ commemorative 1916 centenary project.
TV production company, Tyrone Productions, are calling on Irish people worldwide to get involved in the historic celebrations that will form an RTÉ show to be aired on Monday, April 28.
First and second-generation Irish people, including individuals, families, groups of friends or GAA teams are being asked to record themselves reciting sections of the 1916 Proclamation on camera in front of iconic images.
The Proclamation is one of the most important documents in Irish history, written largely by Padraig Pearse, and was printed on the night before the Easter Rising began.
Pearse recited the Proclamation, which declared Ireland's independence from Britain, at around mid-day on Easter Monday outside the GPO in Dublin, and copies were then distributed across the city.
