A KIND-HEARTED girl from Cork is raising spirits with some very special handmade cards created for anyone “feeling lonely” during lockdown.
Caoimhe McSweeney has been sending her adorably uplfifting creations to her local Garda Station in Blarney to distribute to people cocooning in the local area.
With the elderly and vulnerable deemed most at risk to coronavirus, most have been forced to stay at home, indoors, throughout the current pandemic.
For some, it can prove a lonely and isolating experience with family and friends unable to drop in.
But these individuals are never alone as long as they have people like Caoimhe living in their local community.
With kids across Cork and the rest of Ireland at home until September at the earliest, she has been busy putting her downtime to good use by creating a series of uplifting hand-drawn cards.
It was her way of letting these people know that we are all thinking about them during this testing time.
Featuring pictures of balloons, beers and flowers, the cards also contain words of encouragement for the reader from “Stay bright” to “We Are Strong.”
“We can beat this together” another says, in a poignant and powerful message brought to life by Caoimhe’s kind actions.
Delivered to Blarney Garda Station, Caoimhe’s delivery of cards has become a regular feature of life for the officers of the town.
Accompanying the latest batch was a heartwarming handwritten note from Caoimhe herself.
She wrote: “I’m dropping off more cards again if you wouldn’t mind handing them to anyone you think might be feeling lonely.”
The cards will now be distributed to those living behind doors in Cork with more cards no doubt on the way very, very soon.
