A TWO-YEAR-OLD GIRL is fighting for her life in hospital after being found with serious injuries at an apartment in Cork city.
Gardaí were called to the property at an apartment complex on the Boreenmanna Road, Ballintemple at around 5.30am this morning.
Neighbours heard a "disturbance" at the apartment before raising the alarm, according to the Irish Times.
Garda officers found the child with traumatic head injuries and called for an ambulance.
The girl was taken by paramedics to Cork University Hospital (CUH) where she is said to be critically ill.
The apartment complex at Elderwood on the Boreenmanna Road has been sealed off for a technical examination of the scene by Garda forensic investigators.
It's understood that the apartment involved is positioned at the rear of the complex, which is around 400 metres from GAA stadium Páirc Uí Rinn.
The injured girl had reportedly been living with her father and a woman who is not her mother.
No one has been arrested as part of the investigation into the incident.
In a statement, a Garda spokeswoman said: "Gardaí are continuing to investigate this matter and there is no further information at this time."
