Gardaí make arrest after young man found dead in Irish park as funeral fundraiser is launched

GARDAÍ have made an arrest in their investigation into the death of a young man whose body was found in an Irish park yesterday morning.

Meanwhile friends have started a fundraising campaign to cover the costs of the man’s funeral expenses.

The body of 23-year-old Adam Muldoon was found at 6.30am on Saturday in Butler Park off Cheeverstown Road in Tallaght.

It is believed Mr Muldoon, who had a disability, was sleeping rough in the area.

Speaking yesterday, Garda Superintendent Ian Mackey said that “the full resources of a murder investigation” were in place.

However he added they will await the results of a post mortem examination before deciding what direction the investigation will take.

This morning gardaí revealed they had arrested a ‘juvenile male’ in connection with the death.

The male, arrested this morning, is being detained at Tallaght Garda Station and can be held for up to 24 hours.

Harmless

Meanwhile well-wishers have set up a fundraising page for Mr Muldoon, who was described as ‘a harmless guy’.

“The whole of the Jobstown community is devastated by the loss of such a harmless fella who didn’t have a bad bone in his body,” read the GoFundMe page.

“We are asking for people to donate towards his funeral expenses so we can give him the best send off that he deserves.”

Posting on the page, Mr Muldoon’s sister Katie wrote: “My beautiful brother the most lovable and laughable person I have ever your actions wore so kind you had generous heart and generous mind I will miss you always my big brother you little sister katie ...x”

Meanwhile a friend on Twitter posted: “I’m sick to my stomach thinking about the death of Adam Muldoon, he was such a harmless guy.”

Anyone who was in the park on Friday evening or early Saturday morning is asked to contact gardaí at Tallaght Garda Station on 01 666 6000.
