THE DISAPPEARANCE of a drugs seizure has prompted an internal investigation among the force.
In 2012, a large amount of drugs were seized following a raid on a residence in Athlone, Co. Westmeath but were never recorded by Gardaí operating at the time.
According to IrishMirror, one whistleblower has suggested that one Garda was selling drugs to a local drug dealer. This particular Garda is believed to have been involved in the moving of drugs across the country.
When asked for comment, The Garda Press Office said they would not make a statement as "to avoid prejudicing any further action that may or may not arise".
The incident is currently under review by the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission.
