AN GARDA Síochána have launched a fresh appeal for information after the body of a homeless Polish man was found in a quiet Irish town.
Michal Kurek, 33 and originally from Dziewin in Poland was found dead by the side of a road in Grange, Ballyboughal, Co. Dublin on Friday, August 4.
Mr Kurek died after sustaining multiple stab wounds, gardaí said.
The Polish national had become recently homeless prior to his death and frequented the Ongar area of Dublin 15.
Previously, Superintendent Noel Carolan described the area where Mr Kurek was found as a 'peaceful' rural area.
“The area where Michal’s body was discovered is otherwise a generally very quiet, peaceful rural community.
“Michal was homeless during recent months and is known to have spent time in the Blanchardstown Ongar area and in Dublin City Centre.
“A Garda Family Liaison Officer is engaged with members of Michael’s family in Poland to provide support and inform the family of the progress of the investigation.”
Supt Carolan continued: “Garda resources are not being spared in this investigation and several hundred lines of enquiry are being examined.
“We have received massive assistance from the public as well as very valuable information from the local community, the Polish community and the homeless community.
Mr Kurek's murder was featured on RTÉ's Crime Call last night, and gardaí renewed their appeal for information to the public, and in particular to the Polish community.
An Garda Síochána have Polish-speaking officers ready to assist with calls.
