GARDAÍ are hunting a man they believe carried out a sexual assault on a young woman in south Dublin.
The horrific incident occurred on Kilmacud Road in Stillorgan last Thursday.
The man allegedly followed the teenager for around 2km before ejaculating on her and walking away.
Gardaí were called to the scene and took DNA samples from the victim's clothing.
Detectives have also recovered a significant amount of CCTV footage from the local area.
In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating an alleged sexual assault on a female on Lower Kilmacud Road, Dublin on 10th January 2019 at 7pm."
A suspected sex offender with a large number of convictions who frequents the area is a person of interest in the case, according to the Journal.
The man was handed a suspended sentence for a previous attack on a woman and has convictions for sexual assault, indecency and burglary.
DNA evidence collected after last week's incident will be crucial in determining whether he was behind the attack.
