Gardai investigating after man dies following tragic Tipperary house fire

A MAN has died following a tragic house fire in Co. Tipperary in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Fire services were called to the property in Pintown, Clonracken in Roscrea at around 4am after the house was set ablaze.

The fire was brought under control by members of Tipperary Fire and Rescue and a body was discovered inside the house.

The man, thought to be in 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene early this morning.

It's understood that he died of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is unknown and gardai have said they are investigating "all circumstances" surrounding the tragic incident.

A spokesperson said: "Investigating Gardaí have preserved the scene as they work towards establishing the cause of the fire.

"The body was removed to University Hospital Limerick where a post mortem examination will be conducted by the State Pathologist in due course.
