IRISH POLICE are investigating after a young man was shot in the leg in Ireland last night.
Gardaí in Drogheda are investigating reports a 19-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to the knee on Monday, March 25th.
The man was admitted to the the Emergency Department at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital at about 11.30pm, yesterday evening.
His wounds were eventually identified as being consistent with a gunshot wound.
A Garda spokesperson confirmed, “Gardaí are investigating an apparent shooting incident at an unknown location believed to be in Drogheda Co Louth yesterday evening.”
According to the spokesperson, the 19-year-old, “presented himself to the Accident & Emergency department at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda at 11.30pm last night. The man has an injury to his knee (non-serious injury).”
The confirmation comes just a few hours after several residents in another part of Drogheda had to be evacuated after a suspected improvised device was thrown at a house in the Rathmullen Estate in Drogheda.
The army’s bomb disposal team was called to the scene to deal with the device.
