GARDAÍ have launched an investigation following the discovery of an elderly man’s body at a house in Donegal.
The 71-year-old man’s body was discovered by gardaí last night at a residence in the Garryharry area of Letterkenny.
Emergency services pronouced the man dead at the scene.
The alarm was raised after a car associated with the man was earlier found abandoned at the nearby townland of Kirkstown.
The local coroner and State Pathologist's Office have been notified.
The Irish Times reports that gardaí are treating the death as suspicious, however a post mortem is not due to be carried out until Saturday morning.
The results of the post mortem, due to be carried out at Letterkenny General Hospital, will determine the nature of the gardaí investigation.
