This is not the first time a swan has held up traffic on this bridge
THE Gardaí are called to resolve all kinds of incidents, but this is one of the more unusual ones.
A swan caused some disruption to traffic yesterday on the Samuel Beckett bridge in central Dublin after it nestled down and refused to move.
When the swan seemed unlikely to move of its own accord, Gardaí had to be called to the scene to help.
Thankfully the Gardaí saw the humour in the situation.
They tweeted: "Gardai called to traffic jam on Sam Beck Bridge, suspect seen 'swanning' around."

This is not the first time that a swan had caused traffic on the Samuel Beckett bridge.
In 2014, a swan was seen walking along the same bridge causing cars to move to the bus lane to avoid it.

Another swan caused traffic problems on the Salmon Weir Bridge in Galway last year.
We wonder if the new road plans include a solution to this very 'Galway' problem #Galway#TrafficJampic.twitter.com/hhB7B4anuX

One Twitter user offered a reason for the swans' behaviour:
@GardaTraffic They mistake wet roads near rivers as part of the river. Keep that in mind when driving on wet roads near rivers!

The tweet sent by the Gardaí inspired many swan-based puns, read some of best below:
