Fundraiser completes 106 mile challenge for charity

TOM Conniffe has raised more than £8,000 for three charities after trekking more than 100 miles across the South Downs over three days.

The London Irishman kicked off his ‘Walk 101’ challenge on June 18, which saw him tackle the 101-mile South Downs Way footpath from Winchester Cathedral to Eastbourne Pier.

He completed his challenge on June 20 and totted up his miles – which totalled 106 in the end – and his fundraising, which will be divided between The Brain Tumour Charity, the Stroke Association and the Pancreatic Cancer UK charity.

“I knew that the overall walk would be slightly longer than 101 miles, but “Walk 106” doesn’t sound as good,” Tom said.

“I am absolutely delighted to have raised over £8,000 so far for the three causes and managed to increase awareness of their work in the process.”

The 43-year-old, who lives in Finsbury Park in north London and has family in Galway, chose to support charities dealing with medical conditions that have struck his family in recent years.
