THE VICTIM of a fatal stabbing in rural Ireland has been named as 35 year old Willie Lynch.

Mr Lynch was found dead at a property in Kenry Court in Pallaskenry, Co Limerick yesterday evening.

Four separate crime scenes remained sealed off overnight in the village, and in addition to the house where the body was discovered at Kenry Court, a shop and two other houses will be examined by garda scenes-of-crime teams.

Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster is due to visit the scene and will conduct a post-mortem examination on Mr Lynch.

A 29-year-old man arrested in Palleskenry yesterday evening will be questioned by detectives at Newcastlewest Garda Station.

Paying tribute to Mr Lynch, friend Brian Barry told the Limerick Leader he was "gentleman."

“He was a great friend,” Mr Barry said.

“Brilliant at every sport. A gentleman, and he will be sorely missed by everyone that knew him.”

“One of the best pool players in the county,” Mr Barry added.

Friend Declan Normoyle launched a GoFundMe fundraiser to assist with the costs of Mr Lynch's funeral.

"Willie Lynch was probably one of the nicest individuals you could meet in life.

"A massive Liverpool supporter who only ever had a good word to say about everyone.

"He certainly touched the lives of everyone that knew him," Mr Normoyle said. "Hopefully we can all show how much we cared about him by donating to funeral fund for him."

"Going down the street and not getting a wave and a hiya will be strange," one friend wrote. "You are one of life's most friendly and genuine people and will be very much missed."

The fund had aimed to raise €2,500 but has hit over €3,000 in under ten hours.
