Four Dublin men charged with conspiracy to murder in gangland feud

FOUR men have appeared in court today with conspiracy to murder another man in Dublin last week.

The murder attempt was intercepted by An Garda Siochana this day last week in Dublin’s north inner city and the four men who were on route to carry out the attack were arrested as part of an investigation into the ongoing Hutch-Kinahan feud.

Alan Wilson, 38, from New Street Gardens, 37-year-old Liam Brannigan from Bride Street, 23-year-old Luke Wilson from Cremona Road and 35-year-old Joseph Kelly from Kilworth Road in Drimnagh were all charged with conspiracy to murder Gary Hanley of Philsburg Avenue in Fairview between 15 September and 6 November.

Mr. Kelly and Luke Wilson also face charges of possession of a Beretta pistol and ammunition.

Three of the four men were granted free legal aid when the court heard that Luke Wilson was on social welfare while Mr. Kelly was unemployed. Mr. Brannigan was the only one whose legal aid was objected to by gardai.

While his counsel claimed he was receiving welfare benefits up until eight weeks ago and lived with his mother, Judge Michael Walsh ordered a formal hearing into the issue.

All four were remanded in custody to appear by video link at Cloverhill District Court next Thursday.
