THE FAMILY of a superhero little girl in Dublin have asked people to send cards for her upcoming 8th birthday.
Seven-year-old April will turn eight at the end of November, and her family usually "go overboard" with partying and celebrating-- but with the current restrictions and risk of the virus, April will not receive a big party this year.
Her birthdays are so important because each one is a special milestone-- taking to social media to request the birthday cards, April's mother, Katie Ann, explained:
"In the past 5 years April's had 3 incurable cancer [diagnoses], a stroke, a trillion infections, the loss of function on the left side of her body, so many obstacles and she's still rocking.
"April is fighting Neuroblastoma every day," Katie Ann wrote, but said that on April's birthday they make an effort not to even mention the words "cancer, chemo, zofran, sick, stroke, wheelchair, nothing!".
"We will make her day ridiculously special what ever we do, but we’d love her to get love from everywhere! If you’d like to spread some birthday cheer and send April a card, even a free an post postcard, we (and she!) would be absolutely SO bloody grateful."
Katie went on to say that April's birthday falls on the most exciting weekend of the year when you're a kid in Ireland-- the weekend of the Late Late Toy Show.
The family will keep her cards hidden until her birthday before surprising her with the outpouring of love from around the world.
