EAMONN HOLMES has revealed how his 91-year-old mum found a special way to mark Valentine’s Day with her late husband.
The Belfast-born TV presenter tragically lost his beloved dad, Leonard, 30 years ago following a sudden heart attack. He was just 65 at the time.
Holmes’s mother, Josie, never remarried.
Now 92 and currently housebound, Josie was eager to ensure Valentine’s Day did not pass by without her sending him a special message.
She asked that a phone be taken to Leonard’s grave, so she could read a special message to her late husband and the love of her life.
The This Morning host detailed her story on Instagram.
He wrote: "My Father passed away 30 years ago. My Mum is 92 and almost entirely housebound.
"Today it was snowing heavily and she asked one of my brothers to visit my father's graveside.
"She then phoned my bro and asked him to place the phone on Daddy's Grave so that she could tell him how much she still loved him, missed him and that he will always be her Valentine.
"Then she read out the last Valentine cards they sent to each other in 1991... Love and Loss all in one."
The presenter’s wife Ruth Langsford commented on the poignant post, describing it "The best example of love we could have."
Another commented: "He is at her side everyday," with Eamonn replying: "Well she just knows he is waiting for her."
Others were left in tears after reading Holmes’s heartbreaking story.
"Made me cry... what a beautiful enduring love story beyond the grave,"” one said.
"That’s beautiful yet so sad.️ I’ve got tears in my eyes reading this,” another added.
