DUP politician condemns 'Irish nationalist parrot' Biden, voices support for 'American eagle' Trump

A TOP DUP politician has voiced his support for Donald Trump in the upcoming US Presidential election.

Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) MP Sammy Wilson, who represents East Antrim, attacked Democrat candidate Joe Biden in a Tweet, saying he is "a parrot for Irish Nationalism and their falsehoods".

Mr Wilson is likely referring to Biden's promise that there will be no UK-US trade deal if Brexit risks undermining the Good Friday/ Belfast Agreement-- a statement echoed by major politicians and members of congress, both Republicans and Democrats.

Taking to Twitter, Sammy Wilson wrote: "I would far rather have an American eagle in President Trump than a nationalist parrot in the White House."

He added, "The choice belongs to the American People," finishing the tweet by adding a Make America Great Again hashtag and a US and UK flag.

It is not the first time the DUP man has voiced his support for the US President; in September, Mr Wilson posted a picture of himself and three others holding a flag which reads 'Trump 2020'.

In the caption, he wrote: "Keep America Great!" - The phrase used by Mr Trump for his re-election campaign.

In 2016 following Trump's victory in the Presidential election, Wilson tweeted his congratulations to the leader of the Republican party, adding that he wished Trump "the best for his term as President."

The US Election will take place tomorrow, 3 November, which will see either Joe Biden take over as US President, or President Trump securing four more years as the American leader.
