THE DEMOCRATIC Unionist Party in the North of Ireland has thrown its weight behind Heathrow’s bid for a third runway.
In a manifesto statement the party, which has eight MPs at Westminster, revealed its support for the expansion at Britain’s busiest airport.
The Heathrow expansion is one of three options currently shortlisted by the Airports Commission to increase airport capacity in the South East of England by 2030.
The other options are lengthening an existing runway at Heathrow or building a second runway at Gatwick. A decision on expansion is expected to be made this summer.
