DUBLIN HAS been named among the top 25 best cities for a winter getaway.

Known for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere, Christmas markets and distinct Irish traditions, Dublin ended up featuring in the top five on the countdown.
Winter destinations on the countdown were ranked by a strict set of criteria.
These ranged from Google Travel trends and flight prices to data from the best winter sun holidays according to Statista.
Big 7 also took the opinions of its audience base of 2.5 million users into account when formulating the top 25.
It saw Dublin come in third on the countdown, with the author singling out the city for the its affordability, impressive scenery and general charm.
“Dublin is one of the cheapest European cities for international travellers to visit during the winter,” travel author Elizabeth Thorn wrote.
“Sparkling snow, charming city events, and the chance to warm up with some strong drinks make Dublin a cosy spot for a quiet winter holiday.”
With just over a month until Christmas Day, there’s still plenty of time for anyone seeking something a little different from the usual December 25 action to head to Dublin.
