CLOTHES SHOPS across Ireland are being “inundated” with Aran sweater orders following the Irish garment’s star showing in the Hollywood movie Knives Out.
While Rian Johnson’s Agatha Christie-style murder mystery is winning rave reviews and currently holds a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s star Chris Evans’ distinctly Irish attire which is garnering the biggest plaudits.
Twitter is awash with praise for the Captain America star’s Aran sweater, with several fan accounts even popping up in the weeks since the film’s release to celebrate the perfectly formed garment.
The Evans effect is being keenly felt back in Ireland too.
Speaking to the Irish Post, Laura Byrne from The Sweater Shop on Nassau Street in Dublin revealed they have been flooded with requests for this distinctive bit of Irish knitwear.
"We have been inundated with calls and online orders for the classic Aran sweater since Chris Evans wore it in his new film Knives Out,” she said.
“Customers can't believe how soft and cosy they are to wear."
A family run store, the Sweatershop have been supplying of authentic Irish Aran knitwear since 1986, growing their business into a global operation that delivers worldwide.

Known for its distinctive zig-zag knit design, with many retailers eager to cash in on the enduring popularity of the Aran sweater, the Sweatershop knows a thing or two about how to spot an authentic Aran knitted garment and an imposter.
Laura said: "The secret to a great Aran Sweater is the yarn it is made with, we use 100% merino wool, which keeps you cool in the summer and warm in the winter, making it the perfect year-round sweater "
