THE RESIDENTS of a Dublin city apartment block have been living in their own personal version of hell after a faulty alarm system at a nearby property began ringing and didn't stop for four whole days.
It all started at some point on Friday night when an alarm at a property on Leinster Market in Dublin 2, started going off.
What started as a mild annoyance evolved into a form of torture few would wish on even their worst enemies when the alarm continued to ring through the weekend and into the following Monday.
Driven to the brink of insanity by the noise, furious locals lodged complaints with the authorities about the alarm going off.
This god awful alarm has been ringing constantly since Friday night. It has not stopped for a single second. @DubCityCouncil @EPAIreland pic.twitter.com/0TxT3C7pwc

Noise complaints were made to both Dublin City Council and the Environmental Protection Agency.
Unfortunately, those pleas for peace appeared to fall on deaf ears.
Today FM News Anchor and local resident Niall Colbert eventually took matters into his own hands with a series of Tweets chronicling the saga.
At that point, he had tried almost everything he could think of to silence the alarm to no avail
“This god awful alarm has been ringing constantly since Friday night. It has not stopped for a single second,” he wrote on Sunday.
Alarm still ringing. Non-stop since Friday. Does anyone know who owns Leinster Market, or properties attached in D2? It is driving me, and a 7 story apartment block demented. Complaints logged with @DubCityCouncil Gardai and @EPAIreland. @DubCham @DubRentWatch pic.twitter.com/MNZw7hR0Mo

By Tuesday, there was little progress with the situation
“Alarm still ringing. Non-stop since Friday,” he wrote.
“Does anyone know who owns Leinster Market, or properties attached in D2? It is driving me, and a 7 story apartment block demented.”
Dublin City Council did eventually intervene later that day to silence the alarm.
To say Niall was relieved would be an understatement with the presenter updating followers with the news that “the chorus of the devil has been switched off.”

Commenting on the debacle, Dublin City Council told the Irish Sun: “Our Air Quality and Noise Management Unit received a complaint on this matter yesterday.
“The complainant has been contacted and investigations into the issue are ongoing.”
