DUBLIN FIRE brigade was called into action this week after a man ended up stranded on the roof of a building after taking a wrong turn on his way home from the pub.
The man, who has not been named, ended up “incapacitated” after deciding on a quicker route home than the one he usually took.
However, his shortcut ended up being a little longer than planned after the emergency services had to be called out to rescue the stricken drinker.
Upon arrival at the scene, fire crews became aware that the had had drunk “a few drinks” before winding up on the roof of a nearby building.
It ended up being far from a laughing matter though.
In order to get the man to safety and ensure he didn’t fall, firefighters were left with little choice but to break through the roof he was stranded on, in order to gain entry.
This week a crew from North Strand rescued a person from a garage roof when they became incapacitated after deciding to take a shortcut home following a few drinks.

A Dublin fire brigade spokesperson said: “This week a crew from North Strand rescued a person from a garage roof when they became incapacitated after deciding to take a shortcut home following a few drinks.
“Firefighters had to access the roof by breaking the panels from the inside preventing the person from falling.”
A lesson to anyone considering a shortcut after one pint too many.
Always play it safe and get a taxi home.
