DONALD TRUMP will run for president again in four years' time if he loses the election, according to his former adviser.
Votes are still being counting from what has proven to be one of the most highly charged presidential elections of all time, but it's looking likely that Joe Biden will secure victory.
But Trump fans; rejoice, because even if he loses, you might not have to wait long to see him back in contention for the Oval Office.
Bryan Lanza, Trump's former communications director, said the [current] president can "make a strong case to run again" if he loses a tight race against Biden.
Whether the Republicans would be nominate him again though is another matter.
Lanza inaccurately suggested that Trump will be younger than Biden is now if he ran again in four years, but that's not technically true.
At 78-years-old, Trump would be a year older than Biden is now. Semantics.
Speaking on the Today programme, Lanza said: "Biden will have the opportunity to guide this country out of Covid, and we'll see what his successes and failures are.
"And there's nobody in the Republican party that can challenge President Trump in the primaries."
US presidents aren't allowed to serve more than two terms in office, but as Trump will have only served one should he lose this current election, there's nothing in the constitution that prevents him from being elected to office again.
There will, however, but some debate as to what happens if he did get elected in 2024. Presumably he'd only be allowed to serve as president for a maximum of one more term.
