Dementia fundraiser to take on Great Limerick Run for third year

DEDICATED Dementia fundraiser Danny Fealy will complete his Great Limerick Run hat-trick  this year.

For the third year the Limerick native will take on the run to raise cash for the Irish in Britain charity’s ongoing Cuimhne – Memory Loss Strategy campaign.

“This is my third time taking to the streets of Limerick to raise money for Cuimhne,” he told The Irish Post this week.

“Through Cuimhne, Irish in Britain are changing the lives of the most vulnerable Irish people in Britain. They are supporting services, training volunteers and campaigning to make a real difference to make it possible to live well with memory loss,” he explained.

Mr Fealy, a founder member of The London Irish Construction Network, hopes to raise £1,500 for the charity through the run.

In 2013 he raised £3,00 in his first Great Limerick Run, in aid of the Irish Post-led Cuimhne Volunteer Training Campaign.

The fruits of that campaign are being rolled out this year, with 50 volunteers being trained up to offer Dementia friendly services to the Irish community across Britain.
