IRISH greyhounds have got their beach bodies on for a new video parodying 1980s TV show Baywatch.
The video is part of a campaign from Dogs Trust Ireland to show how suitable greyhounds are as pets in a bid to help protect and re-home them.
Greyhounds spend on average twice as long waiting to be rehomed, while in 2016, 53 per cent of greyhounds that entered Irish dog pounds were put to sleep.

The new video shows the dogs bounding along the beach in trademark Baywatch slow motion, à la David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.
However the video also describes the dogs as loveable couch potatoes, who enjoy spending the majority of their time curled up on a warm couch with their owners.

It is hoped the campaign will encourage people to consider a greyhound when choosing a pet dog.
Suzie Carley, Executive Director at Dogs Trust, said: “Greyhounds are mostly gentle, quiet souls who make the most loyal, loving family pets and have the quirkiest sense of humour.
“We hope that by showing people what wonderful pets and companions greyhounds make we can help dispel some of the common misconceptions people have about them and will hopefully encourage more people to ‘watch’ out for them and consider them as a pet.”
For many years, the charity has campaigned for a ban on the export of greyhounds to countries that have poor or non-existent animal welfare standards.
It recently proposed an amendment to the Greyhound Industry Bill, due to be published in the coming months, that will help protect the welfare of exported Irish greyhounds.
