A MAN has been charged with murder after a pensioner was found with serious injuries which led to his death last month.
Metropolitan Police officers have named the victim as 74-year-old James O’Neill, known to his family as ‘Jim’.
Officers were called to Odhams Walk in Covent Garden at 11.56pm on Sunday, October 6, where they found Mr O’Neill with serious injuries.
He was taken to hospital, where he died just over two weeks later, on Monday, October 21.
A 57-year-old man who was arrested on October 6, has since been charged in connection with the investigation.
Trevor John Gocan, of Odhams Walk, Covent Garden, has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Southwark Crown Court today (November 5).
“We are continuing with enquiries as part of this murder investigation following Jim’s death,” Detective Inspector Rebecca Woods, from the Met Police Specialist Crime unit, said today.
“I appreciate that this was a concerning incident, with many members of the public witnessing and providing first aid to Jim.
“If you witnessed anything but haven’t contacted us, please do and help us get justice for Jim’s family.”
