GARDAI IN Cork are investigating the death of a man in unexplained circumstances.
The man, who is said to have been aged in his 20s, was died in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Officers found the young male in Eagle Valley, Wilton, Cork City at approximately 1:10am.
Gardaí were responding to several reports of an unconscious individual who was spotted outside a property in the region.
Though the man was subsequently taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment, he was later pronounced dead.
A post-mortem is due to be completed.
However, the results of the post-mortem will not be released to the public for operational purposes.
Gardaí have now confirmed that a criminal investigation has been launched into the man’s death.
An incident room has already been established at Togher Garda Station.
In the meantime, an appeal has been launched for anyone who may have information related to the man’s death to come forward.
They have been asked to contact Togher Garda Station on 021 494 7120.
A Gardaí spokesperson said: "Gardaí are investigating the death in unexplained circumstances of a man in Cork City in the early hours of Saturday, 29th August, 2020.

The house where the man was found has been sealed off while a technical examination takes place.
