Cork dad furious after Barney the Dinosaur toy he bought for his son ‘swears’ at him

A CORK dad has described the shock and anger he felt after a toy he purchased for his young son appeared to utter the works “F**k me”.

In a clip shared to social media, the singing Barney the dinosaur doll can be heard performing his iconic child-friendly hit I Love You.

Only this time, the lyrics appear to have been given a rather explicit update.

At the end of the all-too-familiar song, the purple dinosaur is supposed to sing "Won't you say you love me too".

However, in this instance, he instead appears to finish the line by saying "F**k me too".

The offending doll was purchased by Barry, an Irish dad who spoke to Neil Prendeville on Cork’s Red FM about how the seemingly innocent purchase of the cuddly reptile turned sour.

"My son is one on Thursday so we went out and picked up a few bits for him. The day after he was playing with the toy and he pressed the button to play the song.

"I came in to the room and my wife said 'Am I hearing things there' and she took a video to send to her friends to see if they could hear it as well.”

"I listened to it then and I thought no it can't be true but I heard it. I put a video then on Facebook and people were flabbergasted.”

"It is not funny one bit, not funny at all."

According to Cork Beo, Barry took the Barney doll back to the shop but they weren’t totally convinced at first.

"One person in the shop said it sounded like hug but I said that does not sound like that to me,” he said.

"He called a manager and he brought another toy out and it said exactly what he was supposed to say."

Smyths Toys have already offered to exchange the toy.

In a statement issued to Cork Beo, they said they could "muffled indistinct sound rather than any particular word".

Despite his initial anger, Barry has now decided to keep the toy and may even end up auctioning it off to the highest bidder on eBay.
