POLICE haven issued a renewed appeal for information on the whereabouts of a man who has been missing for more than five months.
Jason Hughes was last seen on Friday, April 26.
The 27-year-old, who is deemed a “high-risk missing person”, could be anywhere in Northern Ireland, the PSNI confirmed today, although he has links to the Belfast and Craigavon areas.
Jason Hughes was last seen in AprilDetectives, who are investigating Mr Hughes’ disappearance. have issued a specific appeal to the public for information this morning, calling on them to look at his picture and see if they recognise him.
They are also urging building owners to check their properties – particularly derelict ones - for signs that he might be in there.
“We are continuing to search for 27-year-old Jason Hughes who has not been seen since Friday, 26th April,” the PSNI’s Detective Inspector Angus said.
“Jason has links to both the Belfast and Craigavon areas, but we believe he could be anywhere in Northern Ireland,” he added.
“This morning, we are asking people who own buildings in Belfast City Centre, especially derelict ones and those that are also boarded up, to check them.
“We are especially keen that owners of buildings in the North Street, York Gate, Lower Garfield Street and James Street South areas check for signs that Jason may be there.
“We are also continuing to appeal to the public to please look at the image of Jason and let us know if you recognise him, or have seen him.”
Last month Mr Hughes' family made an emotional statement appealing for his return.
"As a family - his mum, dad, and brothers - we all miss him and are heartbroken with worry,” they said.
"We are asking everyone to please look at the image and let the police know if you know anything about Jason's whereabouts. We love him and miss him so much,” they added.
“I am also appealing directly to Jason to make contact with Police, family or friends so that we know you are safe and well,” Det Insp Angus said today.
