COLEEN ROONEY has been in Co. Mayo this week and took to Instagram to celebrate reaching the summit of Croagh Patrick.
The wife of former Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney shared snaps of her climbing one of Ireland’s highest peaks.
“Lovely visit to Ireland with the family,” she wrote.
“Great experience climbing Croagh Patrick for the second time.”
The 33-year-old, who was born and raised in Liverpool, has Irish roots - as you might expect with her McLoughlin maiden name.
Coleen climbed the mountain with her father, Tony McLoughlin, who decided to pay tribute to the ancient pilgrims who scaled the summit 1,500 year ago, by walking barefoot.
An estimated 100,000 people attempt the climb every year and many of them decide not to wear shoes to pay homage to the mountain’s history of pilgrimage.
Coleen and Wayne currently live with their four children; Kai (9), Klay (6), Kit (3) and Cass (1) in Washington D.C. after her husband’s transfer from Everton to D.C. United last year.
Croagh Patrick is the third highest peak in Co. Mayo, and Ireland’s 29th highest mountain overall.
It’s name translates to St. Patrick’s Stack, and is known locally as “the reek”.
