Cold-hearted thief steals pug puppy from 10-year-old Irish boy outside supermarket

THE family of a young Irish boy have appealed for witnesses after his pet puppy was stolen while waiting outside a supermarket in the southeast of Ireland.

The incident occurred on Sunday, October 15 in Clonard, Wexford Town in Co. Wexford at around 3pm.

The little boy’s mam, Natalja, told Beat 102-103 FM that her son was waiting for her to pick him up outside an ALDI supermarket when a stranger grabbed his pug puppy and ran away.

She said: “As I went in to buy food, my son stayed outside the supermarket with the puppy.

“A male then approached my son, grabbed the pup and ran away in the direction of a petrol station across the road.”

The family called Gardaí who arrived 30 minutes later and reported the theft of the six-month old dog to them.

It turned out that the robbery wasn’t the first incident of its kind to be reported in the area after an appeal for missing pet with similar information was shared on Facebook.

As the theft occurred in broad daylight, the boy's family believe there must have been witnesses.

Gardaí have described the thief as a teenager with a fair complexion wearing a black jacket.

Anyone with information is asked to contact their local Garda station or the pet's owner on 08640 95 565.

The independent charity Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously on 1800 25 00 25.
